Silk is like skin – soft, natural, sensitive. And just like your skin, silk clothing deserves loving care. The good news is that it's not difficult at all.
On the contrary: with a few basic habits, your dresses, tops and blouses will be rewarded with a long life and the same softness.
1. Laundry? Yes, but with respect
Silk is not afraid of water – you just need to know how to do it.
✔️ Hand washing in lukewarm water (approx. 30°C) is ideal, with a gentle detergent for wool or directly on silk.
✔️ Wash inside out and do not rub. Just gently mix in water and let it rest for a while.
✔️ If you choose to use a washing machine, select the "hand wash" or "wool" program and use a washing machine with a drum that does not spin aggressively. Place silk in a delicates net.
💡 Beware of regular laundry detergents! They often contain enzymes or bleaches that damage silk. Avoid fabric softeners as well. We recommend products for washing or protecting silk , or stain removers from Attirecare , which are also available on our website. These products are 100% natural and gentle on all materials.
2. Drying: stress-free, sun-free
✔️ Silk does not like high temperatures, dryers or direct sunlight.
✔️ After washing, just lightly squeeze the water out by hand, never wring.
✔️ Spread the clothes on a clean towel, wring them out and gently "squeeze" out any remaining water.
Let dry flat or hang – but away from direct sunlight and heating, which can dry out and fade the fabric.
3. Ironing? Easy – but with steam and sensitivity
If silk is wrinkled, you can iron it, but always inside out and while damp.
✔️ A steamer or iron with the steam function on the lowest setting is ideal.
✔️ If you iron classically, place a thin cotton cloth over the fabric and never press. Silk is not ironed with force - it is only gently smoothed.
4. Storage: breathe
Silk is a natural material and needs to breathe.
✔️ Store it in breathable bags or loosely on a hanger.
✔️ Choose on hangers A smooth, non-slip surface to prevent slipping and the formation of pulled-out parts.
5. Stains? Act quickly and gently
✔️ Ideally use Attirecare stain remover .
✔️ Most common stains (e.g. from deodorant, makeup or sweat) can be removed with a damp cloth with a little mild soap.
✔️ Avoid dry cleaning at home. If the stain is severe, take the garment to a professional dry cleaner with experience in silk care.
